Matteo Pentassuglia is currently undertaking his PhD within the Data Science Department at the EURECOM Institute in Sophia Antipolis, France, supervised by Professor Maria A. Zuluaga. His work contributes to the ERC CARAVEL project and centers on developing statistical and generative approaches for multi-modal brain vessel segmentation and modeling.
Matteo received his Bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Communications Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy. In 2024, he completed a Double Master’s Degree in Data Science and Engineering and Communications and Computer Networks Engineering through a joint program between Politecnico di Torino and EURECOM.
For his Master’s thesis, Matteo carried out an internship at AMKBiotech, a biomedical laboratory, where he designed new deep learning techniques for instance segmentation of cells in Imaging Mass Cytometry (IMC) data. His work investigated active learning methods and probabilistic neural network designs to enhance segmentation quality in challenging biomedical imaging scenarios.
