Abstract

The project consists of designing and producing a complex digital object that meets a set of specifications.

Teaching and Learning Methods:

The S6 project is organized in the same way as the S5 project. The objective of the project is to put into practice in a real case the skills acquired in all the lessons of the semester. The students work in teams and all pursue the same objective, in response to a set of specifications provided at the beginning of the semester. A group of teachers provides expertise to the students, at their request, in the technical areas necessary for the success of the project. A teacher tutor accompanies each team and, through regular meetings, ensures that the students are making progress, that they do not hesitate to consult the experts when necessary, and that the team does not get stuck. The tutor also has the task of evaluating the technical work at the end of the project, based on the final report produced and the source codes. Teams also benefit from the advice of external project management specialists with a project management course and team coaching sessions throughout the semester.

Course Policies: Attendance and punctuality at all course and project sessions are mandatory.

Description

The project uses the Raspberry Pi platform. The students work in groups and their objective is to develop an object that meets a set of specifications.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Use project management techniques to optimize group work;
  • Meet deadlines in the delivery of deliverables;
  • Search for documentation;
  • Analyse a specification;
  • Write design reports;
  • Present work in English;

Evaluation:

A jury is responsible for evaluating the different teams. The mark of each team is common to all the students in the team. The elements of the final grade are as follows

  • Final demonstration with objective measurement of the effectiveness of the proposed solution (20% of the final grade);
  • Technical evaluation of the proposed solution by the tutor of each team (40% of the final grade);
  • Presentation of the results, poster session (40% of the final grade).
